Recent acquisition by one of the nation’s largest foundation repair company, JES, brings added resources and support to South Carolina company.
Succession Capital Partners (SCP), a specialty private-equity firm focused on the micro-cap alternative asset class in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, announced today the acquisition of Mount Valley Foundation Services (Mount Valley) via its portfolio
company JES Companies (JES).
JES is the Mid-Atlantic’s premier provider of foundation repair, crawlspace moisture management, and basement waterproofing solutions with seven offices serving Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Indiana.
Both privately-owned businesses have been in operation for several decades and specialize in residential and commercial foundation repair, crawl space encapsulation, basement waterproofing, and concrete leveling.
Allan Gantt opened Mount Valley Foundation in 1986 in Columbia, SC. Over the last 30 years, Mount Valley has expanded its service area throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
Jesse Waltz, P.E., President, who co-founded JES with his wife Stella in 1993, started his company in western Maryland. Waltz expanded the business throughout Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina, and Indiana over the last 23 years. In
2016, JES partnered with Succession Capital Partners and brought on Matt Malone, Succession’s Managing Partner, as Chief Executive Officer.
Mount Valley ‘s South Carolina location will be added to JES’ five branch offices in Virginia; Manassas, Richmond, Appomattox, Roanoke and Virginia Beach as well as one branch office in Indianapolis, Indiana. JES Companies’ acquisition of Mount Valley extends JES’ service area throughout the coastal Southeast and Midwest.

JES will infuse Mount Valley with new capital and access to professional engineers on staff, fleet and technological upgrades.
Mount Valley and JES were both originally established as small family businesses that grew over the last three decades to become the leading foundation repair providers in their regions. Waltz stated “Both JES and Mount Valley share a desire to offer
customers the personalized service of a small family business combined with the high level of resources and support that only a larger company can provide.”
Waltz and Malone will oversee and support the acquisition to assure a seamless combination of the two companies. Mount Valley will continue marketing under its same name and will be launching a new corporate identity program that will include a new logo,
website, marketing materials, trucks, and sales support collateral over the next several months.
